Tulips and windmills in the Zaanse Schans

Keukenhof Tour

When people come to visit the Netherlands, there is one thing they really don’t want to miss: the tulips. From far away tourists flock to Amsterdam and its surroundings to witness the magnificent tulip fields, and not without reason. That’s why we offer you the private Keukenhof Tour in combination with the picturesque Dutch countryside. You will be collected at your hotel in Amsterdam from where your personal chauffeur will drive you to the famous Keukenhof Gardens. Let the astonishing floral displays surprise you and walk through the rainbow-like bulb fields while the scent of over seven million blossoming tulips fills your nose. If you wish to be picked up in a city other than Amsterdam, just let us know. The best time to go see the tulips is in spring, which is why the Keukenhof Tour is offered between March 21st and May 19th.

Zaanse Schans

The windmill village of Zaanse Schans is where past tradition is still alive. The Dutch countryside is by many described as the scenery of a fairy tale, akin you will experience Zaanse Schans. Green meadows with grazing cows, calm streams and the subtle sound of turning windmills. You will be driven through this scenic landscape to see the working windmills, some of which find their origin in the 18th century. You will learn a lot about these wind-powered mills, how they function, what they were used for back in the good old days as well as their present-day use.

Volendam

Wandering the romantic town of Volendam is like finding yourself in the middle of a folkloric film. Nicknamed ‘The Pearl of the Zuiderzee’, this fisherman village was founded all the way back in the 14th century. The inhabitants of Volendam still wear traditional costumes. Discover the stunning and well-preserved architecture of the place, visit a typical cheese factory to see how the delicious yellow gold from the Netherlands is made and of course, taste it. You will also see how Dutch clogs are crafted, maybe you’ll even decide to have a pair of fresh wooden shoes as a souvenir! If there’s time left, you’ll also visit Marken, formerly an island in the Zuiderzee, with its characteristic colourful houses made of wood. It’s always possible to book extra time.
